Course Description

This course is delivered as a refresher to students who have previously completed the Electrical Equipment in Hazardous Areas (EEHA) units and require an update on industry changes and to refresh their knowledge for supervising selection, installation, commissioning maintenance and testing of explosion-protected equipment and systems for control and monitoring of plant and processes.

The EEHA course is for Electricians who work in hazardous areas; Coal Mine / Gas Drainage Plants / Food Processing / LNG / Timber Milling / Petrochemical Industries. It refreshes the principles of hazardous area classification, explosion-protection techniques, equipment installation requirements, inspections, and procedures for breakdowns and maintenance, with theory and practical components.

To confirm your enrolment into this course, you will need to meet the prerequisite requirements as detailed below.  Please submit your prerequisites to training@voltedge.com.au , prior to commencement of course.  If prerequisites are not provided prior to the commencement of the course, this may affect your eligibility to gain a nationally recognised outcome.

This course is identified as a recognised competency for an EEHA competent electrician to AS/NZS4761.1 in hazardous industries and it is also identified as being recognised by the Coal Mining Safety and Health Advisory Committee for an Underground Electrician. To gain a Nationally Recognised outcome, students are required to hold a Certificate III in Electrotechnology or an Unrestricted Australian Electrical Licence. Also, to undertake the refresher you must have completed an EEHA course previously and hold current/recent site experience.

This course is available live web online or face to face. The volume of learning will comprise of:
40 hours of pre-reading.
15 hours of assessment activity (written).
→ 4 hours of practical component to be completed
Up to 10 hours of capstone assessment (online) including revision if required.
